ZANZIBAR’S WHITE SAND BEACHES

Zanzibar is home to large amounts of beaches, where over 30 beautiful beaches are situated along white sand, blue and clean Indian Ocean water. This is exclusive relaxing escaping island, beautiful Africa culture hotspot, private beaches and isolated island. In the island there are also coral and limestone scarps which allow for significant amounts of diving and snorkeling in the marine parks. The aquatic life seen includes dolphins, moray eels, lion fish, starfish, seahorse, octopus, lobster and so many other kinds.


THE HISTORIC STONE TOWN

Stone Town, this is the Capital of this region which found on the western shore of Unguja Island. The city gained its name from the many large stone like buildings that fill the old town area. These structures are actually constructed with coral and mortar, which are not stones but looks like ones. There are currently about 1700 of these buildings in the Town. 1100 of these have been classified as having architectural significance.

In this small area, which was originally a peninsula, almost an island at times, and which is only about 83 city blocks square, there are 23 "landmark buildings", 2 cathedrals, over 50 Mosques, 157 balconies, verandahs and loggias and more than 200 carved doors. In 2000 Stone Town was declared as a World Heritage by the UNESCO for being one of the most important Swahili culture keepers.

JOZANI-CHWAKA BAY NATIONAL PARK

This park offers a serene nature walk; therefore, it’s a great spot for nature lovers and those interested in the local flora and fauna together, offers wonderful photo opportunities as well as sightings of these rare creatures, together make this tour one of Zanzibar’s highlights. The Jozani forest is located in the central east region of Zanzibar and at south of Chwaka Bay about 40 km from Stone Town on low-lying land. This is the only Zanzibar national park which covers an area of about 50 square kilometers spanning the inland Jozani forest area

Jozani-Chwaka Bay stand as home to the endangered Zanzibar red colobus monkey (Piliocolobus kirkii), This kind of monkey species exists nowhere else in the world but only in Zanzibar. Other species within the park include the Aders’ duiker, the Zanzibar servaline genet, Africa palm civets, bushpigs, small antelopes, tree hyrax (tree dassie) Sykes monkey, bush babies and Zanzibar leopard (rare to be found).

Birds & Butterfly; The park is a home of over 50 species of butterfly, but also supporting a population of about 40 magnificent bird species; including, Fischer’s turacos, mangrove kingfishers, brown-headed parrots, black-bellied starlings, east coast akalats, mouse-coloured sunbirds, and Zanzibar red bishops. The mangrove forests and seagrass beds of this Bay are important breeding grounds for various birds and other marine organisms.

The park landscape represents a significant ecological area with diverse habitats as a testament to the variety of ecosystems. The flora of the forest is remarkable, as it is home to sycamores, mangroves, acacias, bamboos, jasmine, guava trees, dayflowers, swamp ferns, figs, forest olives, palm trees, mangroves ferns, and red mahoganies.
