After breakfast and a briefing at your hotel, you will embark 1:30 hours on drive from Moshi to Lemosho gate, where registration and other formalities will be carried out to ensure safety and regulation compliances to both climbers and assistants at Lendorossi gate
Distance :It will take about 7 kilometers from Lemosho (Londorossi) Gate to Big Tree Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 3-4 hours of hiking till you reach Big Tree Camp.
Habitat : Rain Forest This is undisturbed forest from Londorossi gate to Big Tree Camp where as it expands, the forest also offers opportunities to a wildlife, such as monkeys, antelopes and etc.
On the first day, after breakfast and your guide will brief concern the
hike, thereafter you’ll be transferred from hotel to Lemosho Park Gate
(2,200m), which will take about 1:30 hour on drive. At Londorossi Gate,
after a while you will start to ascend on an undisturbed forest from
Londorossi gate to Big Tree Camp, where on ascending the forest also
offers opportunities to spot wildlife, such as monkeys and antelopes.
Upon arrival at Mti Mkubwa Campsite, after 3 hours of hiking, tents will
be settled with our porters, who arrive at the campsite before you, for
overnight rest. You will have lunch, relax and in the evening after
dinner the guide will provide a briefing about the next day trek.
On the third day of trekking, you will start early with breakfast before embark on hike from Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp.
Distance :It will take about 8 kilometers from Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 5-6 hours of hiking till you reach Shira 1 Camp.
Habitat : Forest and Moorland Here nature consist of forest then savannah of tall grasses, heather, and gradual you find volcanic rock draped with lichen beards and ahead there will be moorland which is more of rugged and open landscape.
Begin your day with a breakfast before setting out on your trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp. The trail will lead you through diverse landscapes i.e. the trail will take you about an hour or more to reach to the top of the forest, thereafter it will lead to a gentler gradient through the moorland zone. At this point of hiking, you will be able to see the Western Breach with its spectacular glaciers and not only that but also a stunning view of Kibo Volcano, places you can take photos and then after a short hike from there you will reach the Shira camp for meal and overnight rest.
On the third day of trekking, you will start early with breakfast before embark on hike from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp.
Distance :It will take about 8 kilometers from Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 4-5 hours of hiking till you reach Shira 2 Camp.
Habitat : MoorlandHere moorland will consist of more rugged and open landscape i.e. volcanic rocky ground, low grasses, and shrubs.
Early in the morning after your breakfast you will starts climbing towards Shira 2 Camp. As the terrain is much flatter compare a day before terrain, therefore your hike will of more leisurely and you will enjoy best views of the Great Rift Valley, also on this trekking you will find a huge plants, called Dendrosenecio kilimanjari, which only found on this mountain range, never the less you will pass through Cathedral Peak , this is one of the highest points of the Shira Volcano (3872 m), is at this point where you will have a chance to go on an acclimatization hiking and enjoy the best views Kilimanjaro has to offer.
After breakfast at Shira Camp, you will prepare to start trek to Lava Tower, reaching 4,630 meters. The 10 km hike which will takes about 5 to 6 hours and features rocky, semi-desert terrain, to Barranco Camp.
Distance :It will take about 10 kilometers from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 5 to 6 hours of hiking till you reach Barranco Camp.
Habitat : Semi desertNatural this area consists of rocky landscape all over the Lava Tower.
After breakfast at Shira Camp, you will commence on a challenging trek toward Lava Tower. It will take minimum of 5 hours ascending to Lava Tower, where at Lava Towe you will have lunch with great and beautiful view on the surroundings.
This is one of the hard climbs, as normally is at this point where for the first time, some climbers might start to feel symptoms of breathlessness, irritability or headaches (but worry not our professional guide will be at your assistance till you overcome such challenges). Then after acclimatization at this camp, you will continue to descend towards Barranco camp, the trek which will take about 2 hours where you will have opportunities to observe of the Western Breach and Breach Wall and take photograph on the site, before reach Barranco camp in the valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall yet for dinner and night rest.
After an early breakfast to boost your energy, you will begin the day by ascending to the trail that holds features of varied terrain, such as rocky sections and gradual slopes, offering breathtaking and incredible views on the way to reach Barafu Camp.
Distance :It will take about 4 kilometers from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.
Time consumption : : It will take 17 hours to reach Uhuru Peak and to descend to Mweka Camp.
Habitat : Alpine desert. This is a barren area of extreme conditions, expansive lunar desert and barren and rugged landscape, with temperatures at night sometimes dropping to below freezing point and daytime temperatures being relatively high.
This day will start early in the morning after breakfast to boost your energy, yet for trekking. This journey will involve ascending to the trail that holds features of varied terrain, such as rocky sections and gradual slopes, offering breathtaking, and at Barafu Camp with its rocky scenery allows you a view of beautiful Mawenzi Peak. After our professional porters sets the camp, you will have hot meal and rest before you commence next day hiking preparation with our guide on the upcoming summit attempt.
In the midnight, you will be awakened to begin the final ascent toward Uhuru Peak. Therefore, start heading northwest of the mountain, you will climb through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim about 5685 meters to the Uhuru peak, before descending to Mweka Camp.
Distance :It will take about 6 kilometers from Barafu camp to uhuru peak and 11 kilometers from Uhuru peak to Mweka Camp.
Time consumption : : It will take 17 hours to reach Uhuru Peak and to descend to Mweka Camp.
Habitat : Stone scree and ice-capped summit, moorland and eventually into the forest
In this day you will be required to have earlier rest before the nightfall, where at 11: 30 pm you will be awakened to commence your final ascending toward Uhuru Peak after having tea and biscuits. Here you will be heading northwest, where you will climb through scree moving towards Stella Point on the crater rim. Then after 6 hours of trekking you will reach at Stella Point (5685m).
It is often at this level most mentally and physically challenging part of the climb occurred (but worry not our professional guide will be at your assistance till you overcome such challenges). After a short rest at Stella Point, you will be rewarded with a magnificent and beautiful sunrise, (if weather allows it).
It is from here you will have 2 hours of walking through snow covered area while ascent to Uhuru Peak. At the summit you advised not to make a too long stop, due to cold and fatigue, as it will cause difficultness to restart again descending journey, especial when weather is at extreme. At descendent it will take 3 hours to reach at Barafu camp there you will have short rest before heading to Mweka camp where you will have dinner and overnight rest.
In the morning after your breakfast at Mweka camp, you will start to descend towards Mweka gate.
Distance :It will take about 10 kilometers from Mweka Camp down to Mweka gate.
Time consumption : : It will take 4-5 hours of hiking till you reach Mweka gate.
Habitat : Moorland and Rain Forest. The areas habitats.
After an early breakfast, you will commence your descent from Mweka Camp down to Mweka gate. At Mweka gate you will sign your name and details in a register.
To make the testament to your achievement, you will receive a summit certificate. Gold certificate if you have made it all the way to Uhuru Peak, and green certificate if you have reached Stella Point (5757m).
After sign out to the Mweka gate you will be transferred to a hotel at Moshi for hot shower, a hot meal and overnight stay or otherwise in the evening you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your flight back home or prepare you for another planed tour safari.
A backpack is important for you to carry few things which will be useful particularly in days of trekking such as camera, extra warm cloth, skin oil, rain jacket and other things as you will be instructed.
