After breakfast and a briefing at your hotel, you will embark 45 minutes on drive from Moshi to Machame gate, where registration and other formalities will be carried out to ensure safety and regulation compliances to both climbers and assistants.
Distance :It will take about 11 kilometers from Machame Gate to Machame Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 5-7 hours of hiking till you reach Machame Camp.
Habitat : Montane forest. After a while you will start to ascend on a cleared ridge route through the rainforest. The forest covered with mist and saturated with beards of moss, also the trail follows the edge of a stream through the undergrowth. In rainforest due to muddy, slippery conditions tend to be inevitable especial during rained season, better to be prepared.
After breakfast at Machame Camp, you will start your trek towards Shira Camp. The hike covers a distance of approximately 5 km and takes around 6 hours to the destine of the day.
Distance :It will take about 5 kilometers from Machame Camp to Shira Camp.
Time consumption : : It will take 4-6 hours of hiking till you reach Shira Camp.
Habitat : Moorland. In this trail you will passes through a stretch of forest for a while and then you will move towards the Maundi Crater where the trail will lead you away from the forest and ahead the moorland which is more of rugged and open landscape.
In this trail after breakfast, it will take us for about an hour or so to the top of the forest and then about two hours at a gentler gradient through the moorland zone. Hiking to this point you will be offered stunning views as you climb, where the Western Breach with its spectacular glaciers will be seen. For that matter, you are now due west of Kibo and after a short hike you will reach the Shira camp where our porters will set up the tents and prepare lunch. You’ll have time to relax and acclimate before dinner, then after in the evening the guide will brief on next trek.
After breakfast at Shira Camp, you will prepare to start trek to Lava Tower, reaching 4,630 meters. The 10 km hike which will takes about 5 to 7 hours and features rocky, semi-desert terrain, to Barranco Camp.
Distance :It will take about 10 kilometers from Shira Camp to Barranco Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 5 to 7 hours of hiking till you reach Barranco Camp.
Habitat : Semi desert.Natural this area consists of rocky landscape all over the Lava Tower.
After breakfast at Shira Camp, you will commence on a challenging trek toward Lava Tower. It will take almost 5 hours ascending to Lava Tower, where at Lava Towe you will have lunch with great and beautiful view on the surroundings. This is one of the hard climbs, as normally is at this point where for the first time, some climbers might start to feel symptoms of breathlessness, irritability or headaches (but worry not our professional guide will be at your assistance till you overcome such challenges).
Then after acclimatization at this camp, you will continue to descend towards Barranco camp, the trek which will take about 2 hours where you will have opportunities to observe of the Western Breach and Breach Wall and take photograph on the site, before reach Barranco camp in the valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall yet for dinner and night rest.
After an early breakfast, you will begin the day by trekking to the famous Barranco Wall, a steep yet rewarding climb that offers incredible views and a way to reach Barafu Camp through Karanga Valley Camp.
Distance :It will take about 9 kilometers from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.
Time consumption : It will take 7-8 hours of hiking till you reach Barafu Camp.
Habitat : Alpine desert .This is a barren area of extreme conditions, expansive lunar desert and barren and rugged landscape, with temperatures at night sometimes dropping to below freezing point and day time temperatures being relatively high.
After breakfast, we leave Barranco Camp and continue on a steep ridge but yet rewarding climb that offers incredible views while passing through famous Barranco Wall. Once you reach at the top, you will descend into the lush Karanga Valley, where you will have lunch and a short rest at the Karanga Camp.
There after you will continue your trek toward Barafu Camp through the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail, while climbing through varied terrain and stunning landscapes. When at your arrival at Barafu, the porters will set up camp while you rest and enjoy dinner prepared by our professional chef. In the evening, your guide will brief you on the upcoming summit attempt.
After an early breakfast to boost your energy, you will begin the day by ascending to the trail that holds features of varied terrain, such as rocky sections and gradual slopes, offering breathtaking and incredible views on the way to reach Barafu Camp.
Distance :It will take about 4 kilometers from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp.
Time consumption : : It will take 17 hours to reach Uhuru Peak and to descend to Mweka Camp.
Habitat : Alpine desert. This is a barren area of extreme conditions, expansive lunar desert and barren and rugged landscape, with temperatures at night sometimes dropping to below freezing point and daytime temperatures being relatively high.
This day will start early in the morning after breakfast to boost your energy, yet for trekking. This journey will involve ascending to the trail that holds features of varied terrain, such as rocky sections and gradual slopes, offering breathtaking, and at Barafu Camp with its rocky scenery allows you a view of beautiful Mawenzi Peak. After our professional porters sets the camp, you will have hot meal and rest before you commence next day hiking preparation with our guide on the upcoming summit attempt.
In the midnight, you will be awakened to begin the final ascent toward Uhuru Peak. Therefore, start heading northwest of the mountain, you will climb through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim about 5685 meters to the Uhuru peak, before descending to Mweka Camp.
Distance :It will take about 6 kilometers from Barafu camp to uhuru peak and 11 kilometers from Uhuru peak to Mweka Camp.
Time consumption : : It will take 17 hours to reach Uhuru Peak and to descend to Mweka Camp.
Habitat : Stone scree and ice-capped summit, moorland and eventually into the forest
In this day you will be required to have earlier rest before the nightfall, where at 11: 30 pm you will be awakened to commence your final ascending toward Uhuru Peak after having tea and biscuits. Here you will be heading northwest, where you will climb through scree moving towards Stella Point on the crater rim. Then after 6 hours of trekking you will reach at Stella Point (5685m).
It is often at this level most mentally and physically challenging part of the climb occurred (but worry not our professional guide will be at your assistance till you overcome such challenges). After a short rest at Stella Point, you will be rewarded with a magnificent and beautiful sunrise, (if weather allows it).
It is from here you will have 2 hours of walking through snow covered area while ascent to Uhuru Peak. At the summit you advised not to make a too long stop, due to cold and fatigue, as it will cause difficultness to restart again descending journey, especial when weather is at extreme. At descendent it will take 3 hours to reach at Barafu camp there you will have short rest before heading to Mweka camp where you will have dinner and overnight rest.
In the morning after your breakfast at Mweka camp, you will start to descend towards Mweka gate.
Distance :It will take about 10 kilometers from Mweka Camp down to Mweka gate.
Time consumption : : It will take 4-5 hours of hiking till you reach Mweka gate.
Habitat : Moorland and Rain Forest. The areas habitats.
After an early breakfast, you will commence your descent from Mweka Camp down to Mweka gate. At Mweka gate you will sign your name and details in a register.
To make the testament to your achievement, you will receive a summit certificate. Gold certificate if you have made it all the way to Uhuru Peak, and green certificate if you have reached Stella Point (5757m).
After sign out to the Mweka gate you will be transferred to a hotel at Moshi for hot shower, a hot meal and overnight stay or otherwise in the evening you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your flight back home or prepare you for another planed tour safari.
A backpack is important for you to carry few things which will be useful particularly in days of trekking such as camera, extra warm cloth, skin oil, rain jacket and other things as you will be instructed.
